Each of us can recall our earliest awareness of affectional and then sexual attraction to others. Gay men often have a clearer recollection of the earliest objects of their affection because they understood early on in some fashion that they weren’t supposed to feel that way.
Justin Estoque, a Filipino-American adolescent boy growing up in Miami in the 1960s, has crafted an evocative telling of his first curiosity about other boys. In “Stirrings”, first published by the Gay &Les bian Review in August 2020, Justin vividly depicts how his attraction to men first awakened and manifested itself.
